Gratitude. If you have been following along with this blog, then you know that I am big on GRATITUDE! Why? Because gratitude has changed my life in so many ways. And I think if something has changed my life, then it is something that needs to be talked about. Over & over again if need be.

It’s such a simple concept.

But sometimes us humans think that life-changing events have to be hard.  I know I thought that way for a LONG time! That everything has to be hard. Or that life has to be a struggle.

Sometimes something can be right in front of our noses. But we are too busy trying to find the how¬†to do something or how to make our life better, that we don’t slow down and just go back to the basics!

I have been thru some eye-opening changes since discovering the Law of Attraction. The one that stands out the most to me though is gratitude. How being grateful for what I have now has totally changed the way I look at life.

My story

My story if you haven’t already read it on this blog before, is probably one similar to your own. I used to be such a negative person. I catch myself still today reverting back to this way of life. But the good thing now is, I have ways of flipping that negative shit on its head! (It’s just old stories that I am used to telling myself. Old habits can be broken if you want it bad enough!)

Anyway back to my story;

  • I complained all the time. (I’m so broke. I’m tired of being so broke. I’m tired of working my life away for such little pay.)
  • I worried way too much. (How am I gonna make rent this month? How am I gonna buy the kids school clothes? How am I gonna get us thru this month?)
  • I thought I had to have the answers to my life figured out. (If I do this, then that will work out.)
  • I always had to have control over everything. (My relationships, my household, my finances, etc)
  • I attracted what I was vibrating. Negative life, negative relationships, negative work environment, etc.

Until I learned about the Law of Attraction.

I never ever had a clue that our thoughts & words had anything at all to do with how our life was going. I just thought- these are the cards I have been dealt, make the most of it.

I would work my butt off just like everyone else does to make a living. Pay my dues. And try to stretch that tiny little check till the next payday.

It sucked. It was hard. And I thought to myself, there has to be more to life than working, waiting until you are old as F, and then finally getting to retire and enjoy life. I wanted MORE for myself!

Have you ever felt that nudge deep inside of you that is telling you there has to be more to life than this? Me too! And I think there is a reason that you feel that way. Because you know deep down that there is more to life than this way of living!

Enter Gratitude

When I first started learning about the Law of Attraction, I was so skeptical. “Like bs. You are telling me that what I have been thinking, saying & believing in all this time is why my life sucks?”

Until I really started thinking about how I think, what I say (complaining about life, yep big complainer here) & my beliefs..¬†“Well wait a minute, that does kinda make sense to me.” So, since it did make so much sense to me I decided it wouldn’t hurt to try it out.

I did some research. And researched some more. And I am still learning to this day! But what I have learned, I share right here on this blog!  So you can learn from my mistakes.

I learned that if you are grateful for the things/experiences that you have in your life now, then life would bring you more things/experiences to be grateful for!  And this has happened to me. And is still happening to me.

What happened?

I started practicing gratitude. I decided right then and there that I was gonna make this work. So I set out to make gratitude a habit. Do you have any habits in your life? Sure you do. They are the routines that are on auto-pilot most of the time for you. Do you do the same things every day? Driving is a good example of a habit that is on auto-pilot. We are so used to driving back and forth to work every day that we can just about do it with our eyes closed. Although I don’t suggest it! lol

What are some other habits that you have? Your daily routine for example? Do you get straight up and turn the coffee pot on? That is a habit. Brush your teeth and take a shower. HABIT! See where I am going with this. I was bound and determined that I was going to incorporate gratitude into my daily life so that I could change the way I looked at life. Change that negative outlook to a positive one.

It worked!

I started off by writing down 10 things that I was grateful for every day. Then sometimes I would get so busy with my day that I would forget about them until I was driving to work. When the thought dawned on me that I had forgotten, I was like ok something has to change. So I started saying them out loud every single day while driving to work. I would take my little recorder out that my bf gave me, and I would start saying them into the recorder!

Enter Trigger

By having a trigger it made making gratitude a habit so much easier. What is a trigger? A trigger is something that reminds you to do something. Or causes you to do something. If you will make a trigger for your gratitude habit, you can incorporate it into your life just as easy as I did in mine. And you will start to notice the changes immediately.

What changed in me

Well, it’s hard to be negative when you are being grateful. You can’t be grateful for your life and negative at the same time. It just doesn’t work that way. And did you know that gratitude is the highest vibration on the vibration scale? And that my friend is where you want to be! You want to be vibrating the highest that you can if you want to manifest what you want in life.

I started to notice the changes in me immediately.

  • I was happier
  • I realized that I did have so much to be grateful for
  • I started being more optimistic
  • I had hope for the future
  • I realized that I can create my reality and therefore change my life
  • I raised my standards in life
  • I would notice every single time that I said something negative, and I would cringe.
  • I learned how to change my thoughts while having them
  • My skepticism for the Law of Attraction is gone.

That is a lot to be grateful for. Just the change in mindset has made me such a happier person. When you figure out that if you want to see change on the outside (the physical world) you have to change on the inside, it gives you hope that you can indeed change your life.

And I have changed my life in so many ways. And I continue to do so today. I guess I probably will for the rest of my life, but that is ok. Because I know that by being genuinely grateful for the life I have now, that life will bring me more things to be grateful for. That is an awesome feeling to have.

You can create your reality. You can have the life that you have always dreamed of having. But you have to be grateful for life first. Show appreciation and gratitude. Show God that you are grateful to be alive. And watch the magic begin to happen in your life too!

How can you make gratitude a habit in your life?

  • Start by writing them down. List at least 3 things that you are grateful for today. Keep a gratitude journal. You can find a free printable PDF gratitude printable with prompts¬†here.
  • Say them out loud. And always say thank you after each one.
  • Saying thank you will help you to genuinely feel that grateful feeling that will get your vibrations going up, up, up!
  • While you are saying what you are thankful for today, throw in what you are wanting to manifest, but say it in the past or present tense. Example: “I am so happy & grateful that I have such an awesome relationship. Thank you, thank you, thank you!” or “I am so happy & grateful that I am so freakin abundant. Thank you, etc.”
  • Find something that can be a trigger for your new gratitude habit. This will help you to remember to do it every day. I have been doing my habit now for over a year! And still going strong!

I really hope that this post has opened your mind to the possibilities that you really do have to create an awesome life. Don’t give up hope if something hasn’t manifested yet. Just let go of trying to control it. Know that in divine time it will happen. Expect & know it is coming to you. Because it is!

When something hasn’t happened for me yet, the first thing that pops into my head now is, I know it’s coming. Or if I didn’t get what I wanted. I know that something better for me is coming. Something way better than what my little human mind can comprehend.
